Hundreds queue to sign bus stops petition

Following months of discussion, the Council has approved changes to traffic flow and location of bus stops in central Twickenham.

Lib Dem Councillors lobbied hard and obtained more facilities for cyclists, but could not overturn the removal of the convenient bus interchange between adjacent stops in Kings Street.

The stops have been removed to the edge of the main shopping area, separated and now changing buses will require crossing a main road.

Your Lib Dem Councillors and Vince Cable MP have met with local residents to discuss recent changes to Carlisle Park.

Conservative run Richmond Council have taken the decision to withdraw the grounds keeper at Carlisle Park and to stop locking the park at night. Residents are worried that by no longer locking the park in the evening that there will be an increase in anti-social behaviour in the local area.

Robin Meltzer, Parliamentary Spokesperson for Richmond Park and North Kingston has hailed the 6 April Income Tax cut as a giant leap towards the Liberal Democrat goal of a fairer tax system.

£700 tax cut for 82,000 in Richmond Borough

Fairer Tax delivered

Wednesday’s Budget announced that the Income Tax Personal Allowance will be raised to £10,000 in April 2014 – one year sooner than had been expected. This means 82,000 ordinary working people in Richmond will get a further Income Tax cut, bringing the total tax cut to £700 a year since Liberal Democrats joined the Coalition Government.

In Richmond, this welcome news also means that 4,930 low-earners will have been lifted out of paying Income Tax thanks to Liberal Democrats…

Cllr Sue Jones in New Road where these manholes and drain have been patched twice since the resurfacing, and loose gravel left to create ridges.

Local Lib Dem Councillors in Ham Ward – Sue, Brian and David have received dozens of complaints about the recent resurfacing of some of our roads, where the new tarmac is crumbling away.

Two of the worst examples of many are Ham Gate Avenue and New Road. The Council’s contractors have not been adequately supervised and used sub standard materials. This is what happens when you take the cheapest tender without proper monitoring.
