Anne Mckee and Merlene Emerson
Merlene Emerson and Anne McKee are standing for the Liberal Democrats in the upcoming local elections.
Merlene has lived in Barnes for nearly 20 years.
She has always been active locally: volunteering for Save the Children, as Director of Richmond Housing Partnership (2007-2012) and then as Trustee of Barnes Relief in Need Charity (2013-2015).
She is currently a Trustee of the BCA (Barnes Community Association).
A former City solicitor, she will bring to the Council legal and mediation skills as well as her passion to fight for local residents to ensure our children grow up in a society that is kinder, fairer and more tolerant.
Anne is a dual French and Irish national. Although born in Dublin, I grew up in Normandy. I worked as a lawyer in France and arrived in London in 1989. I requalified as a Solicitor and worked for many years in various firms.
I have lived in Barnes since 1994 and have always been interested in local matters. After the Brexit vote, I joined the Liberal Democrats and decided to play a more active role.
Amongst the local issues affecting Barnes in the coming months are the Stag Brewery Development as well as the intended year-long closure of Hammersmith Bridge.
