Vince Cable, Liberal Democrat prospective parliamentary candidate for Twickenham, is urging the Government to put on hold its consultation on aircraft expansion. At present the Department of Transport’s consultation runs until the 25th May.
Commenting on the consultation Vince Cable, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate for Twickenham said:
“I have been contacted by well informed local residents saying that the consultation is incomprehensible. It is not a real consultation but simply an attempt to justify the indefensible.
“To add insult to injury it is totally wrong that the consultation is still set to run during the General Election campaign. It is time that this consultation was shelved, as with the plans for a third Heathrow runway.
“It says everything about the wrong priorities of this Conservative Government that it is running a rigged consultation on expanding Heathrow while refusing to publish its plan to tackle air pollution.”
