Many residents have expressed concerns about the Conservative Council’s plans to build a new secondary school just off Hospital Bridge Road.
Residents are right to be concerned about the increase of traffic and congestion, the decision to limit the number of local children able to attend and the decision to build on protected metropolitan open land.
Vince Cable has recently met with the new Conservative Council Leader, Paul Hodgins, to express these concerns. However, the Conservative Council leader dismissed these issues and pledged to build the school regardless of resident concerns.
Vince and your local Liberal Democrat team believe there is another option. We believe the site located near to David Lloyd health centre is a much better choice for local residents and importantly for the pupils and parents who would like to go to the Turing House School.
The transport links are better, there would be no increase in the congestion of the A316 roundabout as a result of the school, local pupils would still be able to use the school and the council wouldn’t be building on protected land.
If you agree that this school should be built on the alternative site please could you sign the petition below which Vince and the local team will be able to use to put pressure on your Conservative councillors.
I/we believe the Council should look at building the new Turing House School on the alternative site near the David Lloyd health centre
