Liberal Democrats back Richmonds small businesses with new growth programme

Local Liberal Democrats have launched a new scheme to help small businesses in Richmond grow and succeed.

The Richmond Business Growth Partnership will support 40 local businesses over the next year. It will give them expert help, advice and mentoring, so they can grow, create jobs and
become stronger. The scheme is part of the councils plan to grow the number of businesses in Richmond by 10% over the next ten years.

Councillor Phil Giesler, Lead Member for Business and Growth, said: "This is about backing local entrepreneurs and helping them turn their ideas into successful businesses. We want to
give them the tools, advice and support to grow, make good decisions and seize new opportunities."

Liberal Democrats believe small businesses are the backbone of the economy. Nationally, the party wants to cut red tape for small firms, reform business rates so high streets aren't unfairly
penalised, and make it easier for entrepreneurs to access funding and advice. 

This local programme puts that vision into action right here in Richmond. The scheme builds on work that has already helped over 1,000 local businesses since 2020. Businesses interested in taking part can apply for a place, though spaces are limited and a small contribution towards the programme is required.
