Richmond Council is set to lose £45 million every year under Labour’s plans to 'fix' local finances. That’s the biggest cut in London – even though Richmond is the only outer London borough hit.

Cllr Gareth Roberts, Leader of the Council, warned: “These cuts are massive. They will force impossible choices and risk front line services the Lib Dems protected from the last Tory Government. This government calls this fair, but it’s anything but!"

Since 2018, the Lib Dems have saved £50 million while keeping important services running. But even before these new cuts, balancing the books was a challenge.

Cllr Jim Millar, Lead for Finance, said: “The Lib Dems have looked after local money to protect services. But Labour’s plan will hit families and people who need help the most."

Cllr Gareth Roberts added: “Most of our Council Tax money goes to children, older people and those with additional needs. We will keep fighting to protect our services and make sure everyone gets the help they need.”
